Paid Ski Patrol

Summary

The Paid Ski Patrol is responsible for providing safety and emergency services on the slopes, trails, and resort grounds. This role involves preventing and responding to incidents, assisting injured guests, educating visitors on safety protocols, and conducting trail maintenance when necessary. The ideal candidate is skilled in skiing or snowboarding, member of the Canadian Ski Patrol, and capable of working in fast-paced and challenging winter conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Emergency Response and First Aid:
  • Respond quickly and effectively to accidents, injuries, and medical emergencies on the mountain.
  • Administer first aid and emergency medical care to injured guests and staff.
  • Transport injured guests safely off the mountain using toboggans or other rescue equipment.
  • Assist with accident reporting and documentation as required.
• Safety and Prevention:
  • Monitor mountain conditions, assess potential hazards, and perform regular safety checks on trails and lifts.
  • Enforce resort safety rules and educate guests on responsible skiing and snowboarding practices.
  • Set up and maintain warning signs, boundary markers, and other safety equipment as needed.
• Trail Maintenance and Mountain Operations:
  • Perform trail inspections and report any hazards or unsafe conditions to mountain operations.
  • Help prepare and maintain trails by marking obstacles, packing snow, and other upkeep.
  • Assist in lift evacuations or support other resort departments during emergency situations.
  • Communicate with other departments, including terrain park, snow grooming, and guest services, to ensure overall mountain safety.

Qualifications

• Strong skiing or snowboarding skills, capable of navigating difficult terrain and carrying rescue equipment.
• Certification in Advanced First Aid from the Canadian Ski Patrol.
• Experience in a ski patrol or similar emergency response role is preferred.
• Knowledge of mountain safety protocols
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work calmly under pressure.

Work Conditions

• Physically demanding role with prolonged exposure to cold and snow.
• Requires outdoor work in challenging weather conditions and the ability to handle physical tasks.
• Shift work, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by mountain operations.
