The Operations Mechanic is responsible for the preventive and corrective maintenance of the mechanical equipment essential to Centre Vorlage's day-to-day operations. Working under the supervision of the Technical Supervisor, this role covers chairlifts and surface lifts, snowcats and utility vehicles, the snowmaking system, and resort buildings and infrastructure. This position is key to ensuring equipment reliability, operational continuity, and guest and staff safety throughout the year.
1. Lifts & Aerial Equipment
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on all lifts (chairlifts, rope tows, carpet lifts) in accordance with established procedures.
Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly inspections in compliance with RBQ (Quebec Building Authority) standards.
Identify and report any anomaly or deficiency that could affect safety or service continuity.
Support the Technical Supervisor during urgent repairs to minimize downtime.
Record all maintenance activities and interventions in technical logs.
2. Snowcats & Utility Vehicles
Perform mechanical maintenance on snowcats (hydraulics, engines, electrical systems).
Carry out pre- and post-use inspections on snowcats and utility vehicles (trucks, ATVs, snowmobiles).
Complete basic repairs and flag needs for specialized intervention as required.
Contribute to optimal fleet availability, especially during evening and overnight grooming operations.
3. Snowmaking System
Assist with maintenance of the pump network, compressors, snow guns (fan and pole guns), pipelines, and valves.
Support pre-season commissioning: testing, calibration, and equipment checks.
Respond promptly to breakdowns, leaks, pressure loss, or electrical faults.
Maintain inventory of critical spare parts (seals, valves, fittings, electronic boards, etc.).
4. Buildings & Infrastructure
Perform general maintenance tasks: heating, basic plumbing, routine electrical work, ventilation, and structural repairs.
Conduct regular inspections of buildings, workshops, garages, and storage areas.
Respond to urgent service calls (breakdowns, water damage, power outages).
Report repair needs and improvement recommendations to the Technical Supervisor.
5. Workshop & Tools
Keep the workshop clean, organized, and in safe working condition.
Use tools and equipment safely and in accordance with established procedures.
Assist with inventory management for parts and supplies.
Notify the Technical Supervisor of restocking needs.
6. Safety & Compliance
Follow and enforce safety protocols during all maintenance activities.
Document incidents and major interventions according to resort procedures.
Participate in safety training and maintenance procedure updates.
Asset: Prior experience in a ski resort, outfitter, or similar outdoor operational environment.
